Choosing a Solvent
Bacteriostatic water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol is the default choice for most lyophilized peptides and allows multiple withdrawals from a reconstituted vial. Preservative-free sterile water is appropriate where the benzyl alcohol itself would interfere with the assay, but the reconstituted vial should then be treated as single-use.
Sequences Requiring Acidic Solvent
A small number of sequences require a mildly acidic solvent to dissolve fully. Tesamorelin is the most common example in this catalog. Using plain water with those sequences typically leaves undissolved material in the vial.
Release Testing for Solvents
Solvents are released against appearance, pH, sterility (USP <71>), and bacterial endotoxins (USP <85>). Chromatographic purity does not apply, so their certificates show physicochemical results instead of a peak table.
